Calvin P. Tran is a Vietnamese-American writer whose work spans poetry, literary essays, and long-form nonfiction.

Writing under the pen name Từ Yên since the early 1970s, he explores the relationship between power, language, institutions, and public memory.

Rather than arguing for conclusions, he documents events with clarity, restraint, and historical context.

His books invite readers to observe before judging, and to preserve before forgetting.
